Spring and fall
Pool Opening & Closing
Seasonal opening and closing, so the pool starts the swim season clean and balanced and goes into the cool months protected.
Opening: waking the pool in spring
A cover that sat through a Dallas winter collects leaves, pollen and standing water, and all of it belongs on the deck, not in the pool. Opening starts there: the cover comes off clean, the water level is restored to where the skimmer works, and the pool gets a full brush and vacuum before anything else is asked of it.
Then the equipment wakes up. The pump is started and watched for leaks, the filter is cleaned, and the water is brought back into balance. Opening is where a tired o-ring or a weeping valve shows itself, which is far better found on a quiet April afternoon than on the first hot weekend.

Closing and the quiet season
Closing is the mirror image. The pool is cleaned, the water is balanced before the cooler months so it does not sit and stain or scale, and the cover goes on. A clean, balanced pool under a cover stays that way far longer than one left to its own devices.
In North Texas many pools keep running through winter, so the work is often less about draining and more about protecting equipment when a freeze is forecast. Pumps, filters and exposed plumbing on the equipment pad are the parts that suffer on a hard freeze night in McKinney or Allen.
The hand-off into the weekly route
A clean, balanced start is what makes weekly service easy all summer. Opening and closing sit on the same list as weekly pool cleaning, equipment maintenance and water chemistry, so the pool that was woken up in spring is the same one that is skimmed, brushed and tested every week after.
Dallas Pool Service & Repair began with a single truck, and the route today runs through Dallas, Plano, Allen, Frisco and McKinney. To get the pool ready for the season, call (214) 850-3818 for a free consultation and quote.
